Red Rocket Tattoo NYC- Adam Hays
It was a rainy day, Phil and I were to meet in Bryant Park, NYC for lunch and I was running late of course. He was to be waiting by the carousel. As soon as I got there I gave him an “I’m sorry for being late kiss”. He looked at me, said he loved me then asked ’want to see something cool?’ I laughed and before I could totally get OK out of my mouth he pulled up his jacket sleeve and showed me the top of his wrist. It was a tattoo that read “Marry Me Baby”. (Side note: Double Indemnity was the first movie we ever watched together. “Marry Me Baby” was inspired by the way actors and actresses talked in film noir movies from the 40s.)
It took me a second to process and when I finally realized what it meant he was on his knee with a beautiful ring in my face. I was so excited and totally surprised! Of course I said yes (if I hadn’t he already had a ‘j/k’ stencil prepared at the shop… just in case.) Afterwards, we sat on a wet bench in front of the carousel while he explained his preparation story to me. It was the most perfect day ever!
